The Adams Theater was built as a movie house in 1937, replacing the burned-down vaudeville theater Atlas Theater, and served as a cultural anchor for downtown Adams, MA until its closure in 1967.​ In May 2021, Adams Theater LLC purchased the 12,443-square-foot vacant building with the goal of restoring it into a vibrant, year-round arts and performance venue that energizes downtown and welcomes all. In October 2023, The Adams Theater Presents, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, was formed as the sole presenter of arts and community programming at the site.

It’s mission? To cultivate a vibrant cultural hub in the Berkshires—where dynamic, high-caliber performances meet rural access, inclusion, and community-driven revitalization.
