Each year, Berkshire Music School enters the community to bring musical education to our area schools, community centers, senior residencies, special needs programs, and libraries.
Annually, we reach close to 2,000 people with our outreach programming!

Ukulele Jam : A Musical Adventure
Recommended for groups of TEN.
45 minutes per week for 8 weeks.
Appropriate for after-school programs, community centers, senior residences, and libraries.
Immerse yourself in the joy of music with our Ukulele Jam class! This engaging group setting provides the perfect atmosphere for participants to embark on a musical journey as they learn how to play the ukulele. From mastering basic hand positions to perfecting strumming techniques and exploring chord progressions, this class is designed to make learning the ukulele a fun and rewarding experience. For those without a ukulele, worry not! Ukuleles are available to rent or purchase.

Strum and Learn : Guitar Essentials

Join our Strum and Learn class for a fantastic musical journey where participants delve into the world of guitar playing in a supportive group setting. Led by one of BMS’s highly trained professional teaching artists, this class is perfect for beginners eager to master the art of playing chords and transforming them into beautiful songs. No guitar? No problem! Guitars are available to rent.

Creation Station : Exploring Electronic Music
Maximum of 8 Students.
Up to TWO hours per week for 8 weekly session.

Appropriate for kids in grades 3 - 8.
Immerse yourself in the exciting world of electronic music with our innovative class, Creation Station. Led by experience music producer Geoffrey Carder, a Berklee graduate, this hands-on program is designed to unlock participants’ creativity and explore the intersection of music and technology. In this dynamic class, participants will learn to compose, record, and mix using Ableton, a widely used and powerful production software. Carter’s expertise will guide students through the process, providing valuable insights into the world of electronic music creation. By combining the elements of music and technology, this class becomes and excellent platform to nurture STEAM skills in participants, making it an engaging and educational experience.

Discover the art of self-expression in our Songwriting Workshop. Guided by a highly trained professional from Berkshire Music School, this class is designed to help participants unlock their creative potential and craft their own original songs. Whether you’re an aspiring singer-songwriter or an instrumentalist looking to dive into songwriting, this workshop welcomes all instruments and skill levels. In the Songwriting Workshop, you’ll explore the fundamentals of songwriting, from lyrics and melody, to arrangement and song structure. The goal is to empower you to express your thoughts, emotions, and experiences through the creation of your own music.

Immerse yourself in the joy of music with interactive music sessions. These performances are designed to foster a sense of community through the universal language of music. Our professionally trained musicians will invite you to sing, clap, play, or simply enjoy the melodies. These sessions are thoughtfully crafted to accommodate various abilities, ensuring that everyone can actively participate and experience the uplifting power of music.

Tunes for Tots

Appropriate for kids aged 1.5 - 4 with a present caregiver. Available for preschools, libraries, and community centers.
This class introduces our youngest students, accompanied by an adult, to a wide array of music from all different genres and origins through an equally wide array of fun, age-appropriate, student-oriented, movement-based activities.

Drum to the Beat

1 Hour Program
Appropriate for after-school programs, community centers, senior residences, special needs programs, and libraries.
Renowned musician Otha Day facilitates fun and lively drum circle events rooted in the deep belief that rhythm has the power to build community, promote well-being, and create joy. This program offers the ability to work with groups of participants from 2 to 2,500. This highly interactive workshop uses songs, drums, and percussion to create in-the-moment music while fostering creativity, communication, community, and connections.

BMS faculty members are accomplished performing musicians. Performance opportunities include solo piano, vocal cabaret, string ensembles, jazz ensembles, chamber music, and sing-a-longs. Performances can be tailored to meet your needs.
