  • Amy Renak

    Teaches: Piano

    BA, Mary Washington College; graduate studies, Hartt School of Music. BCC faculty member; choir director, accompanist & organist.

  • Annabelle Hoffman

    Teaches: Cello

    NY Philharmonic, American Symphony Orchestra, and Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra. Broadway shows: Hamilton, Dear Evan Hanson, Aladdin. Chamber music and orchestral strings coach at The Calhoun School (NYC).

  • Bing Liu

    Teaches: Violin

    A graduate of Boston Conservatory of Music, Bing began her musical career in China, wining prestigious violin competitions at age of 14. She went to Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing China and Boston University. She performed with the first China Youth Symphony Orchestra goodwill and friendship tour Europe over 15 European in 1987, It’s the first time in Chinese history, and second time 1988 She worked at Central Opera Theatre Symphony Orchestra for ten years. Bing teaches at Miss Halls, Suzuki music school of Troy and as a private Suzuki instructor at Bing's String Studio.  She is co-founder of the Berkshire Trio and plays in the Berkshire Symphony.

  • Carlton Maaia

    Teaches: Piano

    Carlton Maaia II is the director of music at Saint Mark’s Church and the choir director at Temple Anshe Amunim, both in Pittsfield. Additionally, he works as a freelance pianist and organist. He has music-directed for the Berkshire Theatre Group, Barrington Stage Company’s “KidsAct!” program, Shaker Mountain Opera, Berkshire Concert Choir, and numerous college and high school programs in New York and Massachusetts. A Pittsfield native, Carlton’s musical journey began with the study of organ, harmony, and counterpoint under the tutelage of Thomas P. Frost. He then studied organ performance with Haskell Thompson at the Oberlin Conservatory.

    After serving as the music coordinator for Memorial United Methodist Church in White Plains, New York, Carlton embarked on a 14-year tenure as the music supervisor and arranger for “Vespers…and All That Jazz” at the Scarritt-Bennett Center in Nashville, Tennessee. Carlton is honored to share his passion for piano playing and all things musical with the community at BMS.

  • Carol Yahr

    Teaches: Voice, Voice Theater

    International opera career singing the dramatic soprano repertoire in opera houses such as Australian Opera, Scottish Opera, Copenhagen, Prague and Washington Opera at the Kennedy Center. Active voice studio in New York City for 20 years. Director of the New York Summer Opera Scenes Training Program for aspiring opera singers.

  • Chelsea Beatty

    Teaches: Voice, Voice Theater

    Chelsea Beatty trained as a classical soprano, with degrees in vocal performance from The Boston Conservatory and University of Colorado Boulder. Over the past two decades, she has performed on opera and concert stages around Boston and beyond, and was a two-time district finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. Chelsea joined the faculty of The Boston Conservatory as an Instructor of Voice from 2014 to 2018, and served as the General Director of Boston Opera Collaborative from 2013 to 2016. Chelsea brings a wide range of stylistic interests and experience to her teaching, with a particular affinity for the technique required for healthy musical theater and contemporary styles.

  • David Bartley

  • Emily Johnson

    Teaches: Piano, Trombone, Ukulele, Voice, Music Therapist

    BM, Music Therapy, Nazareth College in Rochester. Clinical experience in adaptive lessons, early intervention, PTSD. Pianist and organist.

  • Geoff Cunningham

    Teaches: Trumpet

    MM, Jazz Composition and Arranging, UMass Amherst; BM, Jazz and African American Music Studies, UMass Amherst. Music educator at Amherst College and Holyoke Community College. Active performer and arranger.

  • Heather Goodchild Wade

    Teaches: Violin

    MM in Orchestral Studies, Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University, BM Violin Performance University of New Hampshire. Principal 2nd Violin with the Cape Symphony and Director of Giocosa Chamber Music. Writes and arranges music for unaccompanied violin and creates videos that include a performance along with other visual elements.

  • Jim Wojtaszek

    Teaches: Electric Bass Guitar, Guitar

    Studied music at Musicians Institute/GIT and MCLA. Active instructor, songwriter, recording and performing artist.

  • Jack DiNicola

    Teaches: Drums/Percussion

    Bachelors degree in Social Work, MCLA. Experience working with children and families for over 30 years. Active educator and performer in Berkshire County and Albany, NY.

  • Jackie Vinette

    Teaches: Clarinet, Saxophone

    B.M in Music Education from Ithaca College and a M.M. in Music Education from Boston University. Has taught preschool through 12th grade in the Berkshires for 15 years and is currently the band and choral director at Mount Greylock Regional High School. Jackie is an active a performer, a conductor in the area, and enjoys working with students of all ages.

  • Julia Rousse Shippee

    Teaches: Electric Bass Guitar, Guitar, Ukulele, Voice

    MM in Music education, University of Florida; BA in Music Education, University of New Hampshire. Elementary general music teacher, bass player in college orchestras and local jazz ensembles, performer as a guitarist and singer.

  • Melanie Maz

    Teaches: Piano, Violin

    Melanie Maz has a BA in Music Performance from Goucher College and is a pianist and violinist. Before moving to the Berkshires in 2023, she taught piano and violin in the Boston area for 17 years, in her private studio, music schools, and most recently at Cambridge Public Schools and Hill House Boston. She performed violin in several local orchestras and a chamber music ensemble that she founded. In addition to being a musician, Melanie is also an established visual artist, whose work includes many music and instrument themed paintings.

  • Michael Lesko

    Teaches: Drums, Beginner Piano, Bass, and Piano, Songwriting Coaching, and Production.

    Michael Lesko is a songwriter and producer in West Stockbridge, MA. A former student of Berklee College of Music, Michael has since been recording and performing with many artists in the tristate area for the past 15 years. Michael is a songwriting coach with an emphasis on at-home production. He is passionate about empowering people of any age and musical background to write and record music with minimal technology, and he is currently working on a songwriting guide book. Michael has been teaching music in the Southern Berkshires and Hudson Valley for the past 8 years. He currently teaches drums, his primary instrument, as well as beginner guitar, bass, and piano. Michael consistently encourages his students to honor their own musical ideas because he sees music as a path, not only to joy, but also self discovery, self respect, and a path to developing confidence in one’s own creativity. All of which are invaluable tools for navigating life.

  • Michelle Marrocco

    B.S. Music Education, Hofstra University; Soprano with Bennington County Choral Society; Various local community theatre companies; Performs at weddings throughout the Capital Region. Teaching students as young as 11 years old through adulthood, with a focus on helping students discover their own personal sound and style.

  • Ouisa Fohrhaltz

    Teaches: Violin, Viola
