The annual BMS Music Performathon raises funds for educational programs and scholarships. As the School celebrates its 75th year, it has a proven history preserving and advancing the art of music. The Performathon takes place over one weekend in the spring at the Taft Recital Hall. Students will play from 9 am to 6 pm to fulfill their pledges. The performances are free and open to the public. The next performathon takes place April 7, 2018.
Please join us for a music filled weekend. Students of all ages will perform in increments of five minutes, having earned pledges from friends, neighbors and family members to support their performance time. All funds raised during this weekend are used to support BMS educational programs. There will also be a bake sale and gift shop.
April 2018 Performathon will celebrate Leonard Bernstein’s 100th anniversary of his birth! BMS kicks off the full year of activities, which will also include other area cultural organizations celebrating the Summer of Music (Tanglewood, Jacob’s Pillow, etc.) Students and teachers are encouraged to select music by Leonard Bernstein or inspired by Leonard Bernstein and several hours on Sat April 7 to his music.
Students earning highest amounts in pledges or collecting the greatest number of pledges are eligible for really cool prizes. Sunday afternoon, more advanced students will be performing movements of concertos with their teachers.
